Addiction
Addiction is when a substance or behaviour dominates your life to the extent that it becomes an obsession that dictates your thoughts, actions, relationships and aspirations. The substance or behaviour can range from alcohol and drug abuse, to excessive mobile phone use and social media addiction. It can be manifested in sex and relationships, compulsive spending, and screen addiction. In fact, the list is endless, all of these behaviours though have the ability to destroy lives.
To the person living with addiction, and the family that suffers with them, it can feel like there is no way out.
The key to breaking free from addiction is to first recognise the problem, and then to seek help. If you are reading this page then you have already recognised the problem and are hopefully moving towards the solution.
I have over 20 years experience of working with people recovering from the hopeless state of addiction. I have seen people recover and go on to lead happy and fruitful lives, completely free from the behaviours that were destroying them and their families.
If your addiction is costing you more than money and you want to be free, give me a call for a free chat where we can discuss what can be done to solve your problem.
People in long term recovery from addiction
Perhaps you have been in recovery for a few years or more. You are no longer using harmful substances and yet you have a sense that there is more you can get out of life. Positive Psychology offers a way to find that elusive sense of contentment.
Working with an experienced Coach Practitioner will enable you to explore the underlying causes of your addiction in a solution-focused environment.
I use my experience and knowledge to create a safe, affirming space where you can identify what is blocking you from finding deep seated contentment, and then use tried and tested approaches to get you there.
I believe that at the heart of the addict is a desire to connect and a need for meaning. To feel disconnected and have no sense of meaning are deeply damaging for the addict in recovery. Positive Psychology is well placed to help you find meaning and purpose, and I look forward to accompanying you on the next stage of your journey in sobriety.
